Jenny Murphey MA, LPC
Jenny is a therapist specializing in couples and marriage therapy. In couples and marriage therapy, Jenny works with her clients to identify triggers and underlying problems. From there, she works with her clients to make changes to their current behavior patterns so that they can move forward in their relationship stronger and healthier. Jenny believes that therapy doesn’t just end when the session ends, so she frequently gives homework to her clients. This way her clients can continue using the skills taught in therapy so that they have better and longer lasting results.
Jenny also enjoys working with individuals who may be struggling with long-term mental health problems. She is a proponent of Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) and uses similar techniques in individual therapy. She has previous experience as a rehabilitation counselor and has worked with individuals to help them get back into the workforce.
Jenny mostly works from a Behavioral Systems perspective. She starts by helping her clients see the problems that are triggering the behaviors they are wanting to change. In addition to this, Jenny uses a lot of mindfulness in her sessions. Jenny believes that by using mindfulness, she is able to help introduce awareness of the triggers and problems her clients are facing. Jenny also frequently uses Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) with her clients.
Jenny works at the Arnold location.
