Deborah Oliver is a talented Grief Counselor and has many years of experience in this area. She also works as a Trauma Counselor and provides Crisis Counseling. Deborah has a diverse work history in the Cape Girardeau area, including local positions in both Law Enforcement and as a Registered Nurse (RN).  

As a Grief Counselor, Deborah helps her clients see the reality of their situation and focus on all the positive aspects of their life, no matter what tragic events they have faced.  Deborah helps her clients to clearly define what it is they want in life in order to move forward and effectively manage their grief. Deborah is the Regional Coordinator of the Region E Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Network.  She also serves as the current Director of Survivors of Suicide in Southeast Missouri.  

Deborah’s counseling approach is guided by the Reality Therapy model.  Reality Therapy deals with the here-and-now.  Instead of focusing on past experiences or on a specific mental health disorder, Reality Therapy helps clients define what they want in their lives and work towards changing their attitudes and behaviors so they can actually achieve their goals.  Deborah works at our Main Office in Cape Girardeau, MO.  

Education:  
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Southeast Missouri State University
Master’s Degree in Counseling from Southeast Missouri State University  

Certifications:
Licensed Professional Counselor
National Certified Counselor  

When not working or passionately serving in her roles as the Regional Coordinator of the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Network or as the Director of Survivors of Suicide in Southeast Missouri, Deborah enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
