Lisa Laffoon – Counselor

Lisa Laffoon, PLPC

Lisa Laffon CounselorLisa is a counselor under the supervision of Shannon Anderson. Lisa specializes in couples counseling and individual counseling for adults dealing with anxiety, depression, and life stress.

Lisa believes in listening to what her clients say is bothering them and envisioning what “better” will be like with her clients. She helps her clients create what that “better” looks and feels like and how they will will know when they have achieved their “better.” Lisa believes in the importance of setting goals together with her clients that they will work on in the counseling process.

Lisa uses Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), which helps her clients become aware of how their thinking, attitudes, or beliefs affect how they feel and behave. When working with couples, Lisa uses the Gottman Method. She also uses HOPE-focused couples counseling for those seeking a more faith-based approach. Both techniques are grounded in much research concerning what makes relationships work and what can help hurting relationships.

Lisa has afternoon and evening availability in our Cape Girardeau office.
